Produce

1 1/2 cups — Dried hibiscus flowers

8 cups — Water (4 for steeping, 4 for diluting)

1/4 cup — Sugar (or agave syrup)

Specifications

Use a colander to lightly rinse the dried hibiscus flowers. Transfer them into a pot with 4 cups of water. Put the mixture on medium heat until it boils. As soon as the water boils, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 7 — 9 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow the hibiscus concentrate to cool. Add your sweetener of choice and mix well until fully incorporated. Let it cool for approximately 1 hour. Once cool, use a colander to strain the liquid into a jug. We use a 1:1 concentrate-to-water ratio. Add 4 cups of concentrate to a pitcher along with 4 cups of cold water. Combine well and taste (add more sweetener or dilute further if needed). Refrigerate until serving time. To serve, add ice and enjoy!
